These are a few of our most frequently asked questions.

How much do I need to pay to get a Rent-To-Own building?

Monthly rent depends on style, size, color, options, etc. For most orders, if you choose an 8’, 10’ or 12’ wide building, you only need to pay the 1st month’s rent plus tax (on a 36 month rental). That will get your building ordered, delivered and set-up for free within 50 miles of our office. If you choose a 14’ wide building, there will be a $500 security deposit plus the 1st month’s rent and tax. If you choose a 16’ wide building, there will be a $750 security deposit plus the 1st month’s rent and tax. Some special orders may require a cash purchase, please inquire for more information. (60 Month rental requires an additional $150 security deposit)

 

Will you run a credit check?

NO! We offer a No CREDIT CHECK Rent-to-Own option. We do ask for (2) references to keep on file in case we cannot reach you in the future.

What do I need to bring with me if I want to Rent-to-Own a building?

We will need your ID, (2) references to keep on file that includes name, phone number and address, and your 1st month’s rent plus security deposit, if applicable. We accept cash, check, credit card or cashier's check. If you are paying with a check or cashier's check, please make it payable to Derksen.

How long will it take to get my building delivered?

If you choose a building that is already on the lot, in most cases it can be delivered within 7-10 days, sometimes sooner. If the building purchased has to be manufactured it will be approximately 4-6 weeks. Weather conditions and the demand of the season can alter delivery times. Please note, specialty buildings may be delayed due to availability of products from suppliers.

How much space should be allowed to deliver a building?

A vertical space of 14', measured from the ground to the top of the building when it is on the trailer, is required. Be sure to take any tree branches and utility wires into account. The driver will still need a minimum of 2' of space to maneuver the truck. That is, a building 12' wide will require a 14 foot wide space. Please take tight turns into account when considering a location.

 

What if my new building will not fit through my gate or around my fence?

Derksen requires that your site be ready for delivery, and is not responsible for making any alterations to fences or other barriers. If you have questions about your site, please contact us at 225-654-7078.

 

Does the building need to sit on gravel or concrete?

The only requirement is a level location. Our buildings are designed to rest directly on their skids. In order to level the building we use treated wood blocks. If you would like to have your building on concrete blocks, we only require that you provide the blocks. For specifics on number of blocks needed for your particular building, please ask.

 

What is the warranty on a building?

Derksen offers a 5-year limited warranty on materials and workmanship on our standard line of products and a 3-year limited warranty on our Best Value line of products. We value our long-standing reputation for craftsmanship and quality. We will repair or replace any construction or material defect that does not fall within the reasonable expectation of an outside storage building. Our building materials, such as metal, shingles, treated lumber and siding, are covered by manufacturer’s warranties.

 

Does a Metal Roof cost more than a Shingle Roof?

At Derksen, we offer a high quality 30-year structural shingle or a 30-year metal roof at the same cost. It's your choice!

Is there any penalty of paying the building off early?

No! There is no penalty for early payoff!
